Indian Black salt (also known as Kala Namak), is a crushed Indian volcanic rock salt which isn't actually black but more reddish grey. This blockbuster may smell a little odd (this is because of the sulphur compounds) but don't let this deter you - it dissipates very quickly once in food and what it lacks in smell it certainly makes up for in taste. If you are looking for the flavour of Indian Chaat in your cooking, look no further.
Experiment... this salt's taste is savoury like hard boiled egg yolks, so it is perfect if you want a flavour of egg in a vegan dish. It is also flawless with Indian dishes including pickles, salads, chutneys, curries and raitas. It is also delicious on kale, popcorn, tofu and fruit salad.
Why not try... if you like this salt try the other Black Wonders - Hawaiian Black Lava or Cyprus Black Flake. Or if impact is your thing, consider one of our more Flamboyant salts - Toasted Onion, Roasted Garlic or Matcha Green Tea.
Storage conditions... store in a cool, dry place. Some salts may retain moisture and become clumpy over time - this is normal as our salts are 100% natural and does not affect the quality of the salt.
Ingredients... sea salt. No anti-caking, free flowing additives, conditioners, allergens, genetically modified organisms.
So what does it contain? Sodium Chloride (99.1%), Sulphur (0.42%), Water Insolubles (0.28%) and moisture (0.16%).
Bought this salt to make a recipe for vegan fluffy scrambled egg. It works a treat as it gives off a sulphur smell similar to egg. Would buy again for sure. https://minimalistbaker.com/fluffy-vegan-scrambled-eggs/
