Discover Rare and Aromatic Kampot Pepper from Cambodia
Kampot pepper is often regarded as The King of Peppers, prized worldwide for its exceptional aroma, layered flavour, and smooth, lingering heat. Grown exclusively in Cambodia’s Kampot region, it is one of the very few spices in the world to hold Protected Geographical Indication status. At The Salt Box, we are proud to offer a premium range of authentic Kampot peppercorns that reflect centuries of tradition and craftsmanship.
Grown in Ideal Conditions
The Kampot region of southern Cambodia offers a rare combination of mineral rich soil, coastal climate, and traditional farming practices that cannot be replicated elsewhere. Pepper vines are cultivated using natural methods, with careful attention to spacing, shading, drainage, and soil health.
Peppercorns are hand harvested at precise stages of ripeness and traditionally sun dried to preserve their natural oils and aromatic complexity. Each batch is subject to strict inspection and full traceability back to the individual farm, ensuring authenticity, consistency, and quality in every pack.
A Pepper with Centuries of Heritage
Kampot pepper has been cultivated for hundreds of years, with written records dating back to the 13th century. By the early 20th century, it was the most highly regarded pepper in French cuisine, celebrated for its powerful yet refined character. This heritage continues today, upheld by small scale farmers and meticulous processing techniques that protect the integrity of each peppercorn.
Bold, Refined Flavour for Culinary Excellence
Kampot pepper offers a depth of flavour rarely found in conventional pepper. Black, red, and white varieties each deliver distinct profiles, ranging from warm spice and floral notes to citrus freshness and subtle sweetness. Freshly ground, it enhances everything from meats and seafood to vegetables, sauces, and even desserts, elevating both everyday meals and refined dishes.
Our Commitment to Purity and Taste
At The Salt Box, we source only genuine Kampot pepper grown in its protected region and processed using traditional methods without sterilisation or irradiation. Carefully cleaned, manually sorted, and packed to preserve freshness, every bag reflects our commitment to provenance, purity, and exceptional flavour.
