Epsom salt - a mineral compound of magnesium and sulfate - is a wonderfully versatile mineral when it comes to health and beauty. We’ve  explored at length the different ways you can use it in the bathroom - for treating dermatological conditions, cleansing pores and exfoliating skin. A great way to enjoy these benefits as a part of your daily shower routine is to make your own DIY Epsom salt soap. Let’s have a look at how!

Not into having baths? Using Epsom salt soap is a great way to enjoy the benefits in the shower. Here's how you can make your own at home.

There are a number of ways you can make soap, some are easy, some not so much. For this DIY approach, we wanted to make it as easy as possible for you. This involves using the β€œmelt and pour” method, which involves melting all the ingredients down on a stovetop or in the microwave then pouring the mixture into molds. It’s a simple and fun method that allows you to add whatever you want to make your perfect soap.

The Benefits of Epsom Salt on The Skin

Magnesium and sulfate have a number of amazing benefits for the skin and using Epsom salt soap daily in the bath or shower is a great way to reap them.

Exfoliate dead skin - Due to its crystalline structure, Epsom salt is a great exfoliant. Removing old, dead skin cells will leave you looking smooth and feeling fresh.

Cleanse pores - Dirt, oils and bacteria clog up pores in the skin, causing pimples, blackheads and other imperfections to appear. Epsom salt is an excellent natural cleanser.

Detoxify - When absorbed through the skin, Epsom salt can help remove toxins and heavy metals.

Reduce cellulite - Epsom salt can help detoxify the bloodstream and brighten complexion. It can also help reduce the appearance of cellulite.

Reduce inflammation - The magnesium in Epsom salt is a powerful anti-inflammatory and can help soothe skin conditions like eczema, acne, psoriasis and dermatitis.
